Bush Bucks and Rundu Rangers Secure Promotion to NEFD League

Katima mulilo: The Zambezi Region's Namport Second Division champions, Bush Bucks FC, and Kavango East Second Division champions, Rundu Rangers FC, have both booked a place in the North East First Division (NEFD) league.According to Namibia Press Agency, the two clubs earned their promotion following promotional playoffs held at the Katima Mulilo Sports Complex over the weekend. The NEFD playoffs were a battleground where five northeastern regional second-division champions squared off for two promotional spots in the first-tier league before the kick-off of the next season.The playoffs featured teams from the Zambezi, Kavango East, Kavango West, Ohangwena, and Oshikoto regions. Bush Bucks sealed their spot by beating Ohangwena champions Members XI FC 1-0 on Sunday, which gave them 10 points for the weekend tournament. They won three of their weekend games and drew 0-0 against Kavango West champions Young Western Fighters FC on Saturday.Bush Bucks finished the weekend at the top of the standings, follow ed by Rundu Rangers from Kavango East, who collected nine points from three wins and one loss. In third place were Young Western Fighters with seven points, followed by Members XI with three points, and Gerros Uri-Khob Football Academy with zero points.The results automatically promote Bush Bucks and Rundu Rangers to the NEFD league, filling the spaces left by two relegated clubs, Chiefs Santos and Eastern Chiefs. The promoted clubs will compete against advanced teams like Black Hawks, Rundu Chiefs, United Stars, and KK United when the new season opens in the coming months.Contacted for comment, Bush Bucks head coach Budstyn Mutau expressed his excitement about the club's promotion. He noted that this marks the second time his club has been promoted to the first division and hopes they will achieve significant success this time around. 'I'm happy and this means a lot for us as a team. We were there before, and technically we are more than ready to do wonders. Our experience should propel us to greater thi ngs,' he said.
