Windhoek: Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney stressed Sunday that a new consensus has emerged across the country regarding its economic transformation and future direction, ahead of the inaugural Canada Investment Summit. Addressing Canadian business leaders at a welcome reception on Sunday evening, Carney said that this consensus is that "Canada is taking control of our future."
According to Namibia Press Agency, Carney highlighted the country's commitment to building more, increasing trade both domestically and globally, and creating sustainable prosperity at home. He emphasized that Canada is defining a new era characterized by unity and embracing differences as a strength on this risk-taking journey.
Carney pointed out that Canada possesses what the world desires: energy, resources, talent, technology, capital, and most importantly, trust, which he described as an invaluable asset. He conveyed optimism about the country's ability to achieve more collectively than any external force could diminish.
The inaugural Canada Investment Summit is scheduled to take place on September 14-15 in Toronto, Canada's largest city. This strategic initiative seeks to attract major capital investments and aims to secure up to 1 trillion Canadian dollars (720 billion U.S. dollars) in total investments over the next five years.
The summit will feature Canada's "Deal Book," highlighting key projects in energy, critical minerals, advanced technologies, and major infrastructure. The event is designed to connect global capital with significant Canadian projects, enhancing domestic supply chain resilience, boosting productivity, and reducing economic dependency on the United States.
