Beijing: At the invitation of Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang is set to attend the Belem Climate Summit on November 6 as President Xi Jinping's special representative, announced the Chinese foreign ministry on Friday. Spokesperson Guo Jiakun emphasized China's readiness to collaborate with all parties to advance the global green and low-carbon transformation, expressing hopes for the summit's success as a pivotal event in global climate response.
According to Namibia Press Agency, this year holds significant importance as it marks the 10th anniversary of the Paris Agreement and requires countries to submit their new Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). Guo highlighted this as a critical juncture for global climate governance, noting China's commitment through its announcement of a new round of NDCs, underscoring its role as a responsible major country in the field.
Guo further stated China's intentions to work collaboratively with all nations to uphold multilateralism, strengthen solidarity and coordination, and facilitate the global green and low-carbon transition. The spokesperson expressed aspirations for building a clean and beautiful world, reinforcing China's commitment to environmental progress and international cooperation.
