Paris: France attacker Ousmane Dembele and Barcelona midfielder Aitana Bonmati have been recognized with the prestigious FIFA Best Player Awards, marking significant achievements in their respective careers. FIFA announced the winners on Tuesday, highlighting Dembele's triumph in the men's category and Bonmati's continued dominance in the women's category.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Dembele played a crucial role in leading Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) to its first UEFA Champions League title by scoring eight goals and providing six assists throughout the season. The 28-year-old's exceptional performance earned him the MVP title in both the Champions League and Ligue 1 during the 2024-25 season. His contributions also propelled PSG to the final of the inaugural FIFA Club World Cup.
Bonmati, 27, secured the Best Women's Player Award for the third consecutive year despite undergoing surgery for a fractured fibula in early December. She was named MVP in the UEFA Women's Champions League and the Women's Euro 2025, although she was unable to lead her club or national team to victory in either competition.
Spain's Luis Enrique was honored with the Best Men's Coach award after guiding PSG to victory over Inter Milan in the Champions League final and achieving a domestic treble, including Ligue 1, Coupe de France, and Trophee des Champions titles. England's Sarina Wiegman was awarded Best Women's Coach for a record-breaking fifth time, having led England to the Women's Euro 2025 title over Spain in a penalty shootout.
The Best FIFA Men's 11 featured six players from PSG, recognizing their UEFA Champions League triumph and FIFA Club World Cup final appearance. In the Best FIFA Women's 11, seven Spanish players and four from England were included. PSG's Gianluigi Donnarumma and Chelsea's Hannah Hampton were named Best Men's and Women's Goalkeepers, respectively.
Additionally, Santiago Montiel's remarkable goal for Independiente in Argentina's Torneo Apertura earned him the 2025 Puskas Award for the best goal of the year.
