Terrell: Five people were killed and several others injured Saturday in a crash involving seven vehicles near Terrell in northern Texas, authorities said.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the accident began when a truck-tractor driver fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into a Ford F-150 carrying five people. The truck-tractor then collided with two other 18-wheelers, causing one to jackknife and collide with three more cars.

The Terrell Volunteer Fire Department said at least one of the injured was in critical condition.

The crash led to the shutdown of Interstate 20 and triggered an emergency response from multiple agencies.
