Windhoek: First National Bank of Namibia (FNB) Commercial on Monday announced the appointment of Leonard Hamunyela as Head of Enterprise Banking, effective 01 June 2026.According to Namibia Press Agency, the bank in a media statement noted that Hamunyela brings extensive experience in investment banking, treasury management, structured finance, and business development across Namibia's financial services sector. In his new role, he will lead the Enterprise Banking segment, focusing on driving strategic growth, strengthening client relationships, and supporting the expansion of the commercial banking business.FNB Namibia Commercial CEO, Philip Chapman, stated that the appointment reflects the bank's commitment to strengthening leadership capacity to support the evolving needs of Namibian businesses. 'His extensive experience across investment banking, structured finance, treasury, and strategic business development positions him well to lead our Enterprise Banking segment into its next phase of growth,' Ch apman said.Hamunyela joins FNB Namibia Commercial from RMB Namibia, where he served as Senior Transactor in the Investment Banking Division. He was responsible for originating, structuring, and executing large-scale financing transactions across infrastructure, energy, sovereign, public, and corporate sectors. 'During his tenure, he played a key role in supporting the growth of the Investment Banking business and successfully delivered innovative, first-to-market financing solutions while building strong and enduring client relationships.'The bank further highlighted that Hamunyela previously held roles within FirstRand Namibia and NamibRe and worked at PwC in the Financial Services division, providing assurance services to banks, insurers, and asset managers across Namibia and South Africa.Commenting on his appointment, Hamunyela said he was honoured to take up the role at a time when businesses are navigating both opportunities and challenges. 'I look forward to working alongside a talented team to de epen client partnerships, unlock growth opportunities, and contribute meaningfully to the development of Namibia's commercial sector,' he said.Hamunyela is a Chartered Accountant CA(SA) and CA(NAM) and holds a Bachelor of Accounting degree (Cum Laude) from the University of Namibia and a Bachelor of Honours degree in Chartered Accountancy from North-West University. FNB Namibia Commercial said it looks forward to the experience and strategic insight he will bring to the leadership team.
