The Government Institutions Pension Fund (GIPF) on Monday announced a N.dollars 10 million investment into the Tsumeb Private Hospital.

The investment was done through the Special Purpose Vehicle, Venture Partners Botswana (VPB) and the Namibia Growth Fund.

GIPF’s Chief Executive Officer David Nuyoma, in a media statement on Monday, said the investment translated into a 49 per cent ownership of TPH and aims to ensure that the hospital diversifies into a set of specialists, which will result in more services to be offered at the facility.

TPH is a remnant of the previous mining company, Tsumeb Corporation Limited, which operated from 1947 until its liquidation in 1998. Initially, the hospital was established to specifically provide services to the employees of the mine and their families. In 1998, following liquidation, TPH operated as Oshakati Private Hospital until 2010.

“Today, with the assistance of GIPF, the hospital is a licensed provider of integrated medical services ranging from accident and emergency, Intensive Care Unit, maternity care, occupational health, pharmaceutical and hospitalisation services,” Nuyoma stated.

The hospital consists of approximately 40-bed facilities, two theatres, one recovery room, a maternity ward, rehab facilities, in-house pharmacy, fully operational health clinic, PathCare lab, X-Ray facilities and a casualty ward.
