Otjiwarongo: Namibia Premier Football League (NPFL) outfit Mighty Gunners continued their impressive start to the 2025/26 Premiership season with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over defending champions African Stars on Saturday.
According to Namibia Press Agency, round four at the Mokati Stadium saw both sides enter the encounter unbeaten, but it was the military side who rose to the occasion, delivering a spirited performance to hand Stars their first defeat of the campaign. A brace from Muyeka Mashiku was all the Gunners needed to secure their third win of the season and climb to the top of the log for the first time this season, amassing 10 points from four matches.
African Stars' reliable goal poacher Mbakondja Tjahikika found the back of the net for the defending champions, but his effort was not enough to salvage a result as Stars surrendered their place at the top of the table. The defeat saw Stars drop to third position on nine points, while KK Palace moved level with Gunners on 10 points but trail on goal difference.
KK Palace maintained their unbeaten run with a narrow 1-0 win over struggling coastal giants Blue Waters at the Oshakati Independence Stadium, with a goal from captain Kanza Mfutila. Blue Waters remain winless after four matches, collecting just two points and sitting 13th on the log.
Meanwhile, newly promoted Rundu Chiefs continue to find their footing in the top flight after recording another draw, this time a goalless stalemate against Bucs Buccaneers. Chiefs are 12th with two points from three matches, while the Buccaneers occupy ninth place with six points from four games.
Elsewhere, Life Fighters' poor run continued as they suffered a 2-0 home defeat to Khomas NamPol. Goals from Nguzu Salazar and Ronaldo Vries moved NamPol to fifth place on seven points, while Life Fighters remain bottom of the table without a point after four matches.
Eeshoke Chula Chula also secured their second win of the season, defeating newly-promoted Eleven Arrows 2-0, courtesy of goals from Eric Yema and Michael Jonas. The Ohangwena-based side climbed to third on the log, while Arrows, who suffered their first loss of the season, sit 10th with four points.
In another result, Okahandja United edged Julinho Sporting to move to sixth place on seven points. Julinho, still searching for their first victory of the season, is rooted in 15th position without a point from three matches.
