I am a wounded lion: Kankololo

Namibian featherweight boxer and former African Boxing Union champion, Nathaniel Natty Kakololo, has sent a stern warning to his opponent, Johannes Niinkoti, for the Salute Boxing Academy’s Building Champions Boxing Bonanza scheduled to take place in Windhoek on Friday.

Kankololo, who has a record of 15 fights – 11 wins, three losses and one draw – is expected to redeem himself when he takes on Niinkoti, who has a record of 12 fights – three wins, five losses and four draws.

In a recent interview with Nampa Kankololo, who lost his fights in Ukraine when he challenged Oleg Malinovskyi for the World Boxing Organisation and then went on to lose against Andranik Grigorian in Russia earlier this year, said he is a wounded lion and whoever is going to face him, will feel his wrath.

“I am a champion and champions don’t get ready, they stay ready. My opponent for this upcoming boxing bonanza is my fan seeing that I fought for this country a number of times and he was watching me [SIC] doing that,” he said.

He added that after his recent defeats in Ukraine and Russia, he is looking forward to a good fight when he steps in the ring.

Also speaking to Nampa, Kankolo’s coach Tobias Nashilongo said his boxer is ready.

“All that Kankololo needs is one good punch, but he has prepared well and he will now take the opportunity given to him with both hands,” said Nashilongo.
