Otjinene: The Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) candidate for the Otjinene Constituency, Mervin Kaupasaneua Tuaire, has pledged to drive significant change in the expansive settlement of the Omaheke Region if he is elected as a councillor.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Tuaire emphasized his commitment to enhancing the education sector in the Otjinene Constituency by establishing vocational and agricultural training centres. He believes these institutions will be crucial for the settlement, providing skills to school dropouts in technical and agricultural fields. Tuaire stated these centres will empower rural youth to create self-employment opportunities and attract investors to the area.
Tuaire, who is also a prominent sports administrator in Otjinene, plans to address the lack of sports infrastructure. He aims to provide facilities where young athletes can develop their talents, acknowledging the challenges faced by talented individuals due to the absence of proper amenities.
Housing is another priority on Tuaire's agenda. He intends to collaborate with the Otjinene Village Council and the National Housing Enterprise to ensure residents have access to affordable housing, aiming to eliminate homelessness in Otjinene.
In terms of infrastructure, Tuaire advocates for sustainable transport solutions and the expansion of roads linking local villages with smaller paths. He also aims to enhance safety for residents and visitors by tackling crime in the area, proposing a local security initiative to address livestock theft, a prevalent issue in Otjinene and surrounding constituencies.
Agriculture is a focal point of Tuaire's plan, aligning with government priorities. He proposes the establishment of green schemes to supply local markets with fresh produce, addressing food security and creating employment opportunities simultaneously.
Tuaire brings a wealth of experience to his candidacy, having served as a teacher and currently holding positions as the chairperson of the Omaheke Athletics, Otjinene Sports Club, and a volunteer for Otjinene Youth and Sports Development.
