Kathindi Hands Over Equipment to Oshikoto Micro Businesses

Omuthiya: Seven micro-business owners in the Oshikoto Region received income-generating equipment worth N.dollars 200 000 from the Oshikoto Regional Council at Omuthiya on Tuesday. Handing over the donation, Oshikoto Governor Sacky Kathindi said the donation reflects the council's collective resolve to empower people with practical tools to enable them to participate in economic activities that improve their livelihoods.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the micro-income generating projects programme is a strategic intervention of the governor's office designed to promote self-reliance, entrepreneurship, and inclusive local economic development. Kathindi emphasized that the initiative is aimed at creating employment and strengthening households and community resilience.

Kathindi remarked on the importance of leadership in ensuring that entrepreneurs are not hindered by a lack of basic equipment. He stated that it is crucial for entrepreneurs to have the opportunity to transform their ideas into sustainable ventures. "The equipment handed over today is a development asset entrusted to you; it must be used strictly for its intended purposes, maintained with care and safeguarded for long-term productivity," Kathindi said.

The beneficiaries of this initiative include Coca Shop in the Guinas constituency, Nehemia Catering and Bakery in the Olukonda constituency, Tulonga Project from Okankolo constituency, Avodia Investment in the Olukonda constituency, Aili Fashion Design in the Onyaanya constituency, Kukuta Trading in the Nehale Lya Mpingana constituency, and Economic Garden in the Onyaanya constituency.
