Katima Mulilo:A 38-year-old woman accused of an arson attack that resulted in the death of 42-year-old Nsala Mwazi made her second appearance in the Katima Mulilo Magistrate's Court. The incident occurred in August this year in Katima Mulilo.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Nampwa Dudu Fiona Matengu appeared before Magistrate Davy Kambinda, who postponed the case to 08 February 2027. The postponement is to allow Matengu to finalize her legal aid application. She faces charges of murder, attempted murder, arson, and defeating the course of justice and remains in custody.

The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) report revealed that the deceased and the accused shared a rented house in the Shack Dwellers residential area of Katima Mulilo. The two women reportedly were not on good terms, and the fire, believed to have been intentionally started, occurred around midnight while Mwazi was asleep with her two children. Mwazi managed to save her children by pushing them to safety through a window with burglar bars.

Investigators at the crime scene found a blue five-litre container smelling of petrol near the entrance of the deceased's room, where the fire is suspected to have started. Prosecutor Cedric Mundia appeared for the State in this case.
