Rotterdam:China's Ke Qinqin secured the bronze medal in the women's individual all-around final at the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships. American gymnast Skye Blakely made a triumphant return from injury to win the gold medal.
According to NAMPA, Ke Qinqin finished with a total score of 55.032 points, narrowly missing the silver by 0.167 points. Skye Blakely led the standings with 55.733 points, while Russia's Liudmila Roshchina secured the silver with a score of 55.199.
Ke's performance was consistent across all four apparatus, scoring 14.033 on vault, 13.900 on uneven bars, 13.833 on balance beam, and concluding with 13.266 on floor exercise. Ke, who initially qualified in fifth place, maintained her position in the medal race throughout the competition's four rotations.
Blakely's victory marked a significant milestone in her career, especially after recovering from a severe Achilles tendon injury that had previously dashed her hopes of competing in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The 21-year-old excelled particularly on the uneven bars and balance beam, clinching the title with a strong floor exercise routine. Blakely's win makes her the first American to claim the women's world all-around crown since Simone Biles in 2023.
Roshchina delivered an impressive performance to earn the silver medal in a tightly contested final. Meanwhile, Ke's success added to China's strong performance at the Rotterdam championships, following their victory in the women's team final on Wednesday, which secured an automatic qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
The Championships will continue on Saturday, with the first day of apparatus finals featuring men's floor exercise, pommel horse, and rings, in addition to women's vault and uneven bars.
