Kunene NamPol FC Maintain Top Spot in Kunene Second Division

Kunene: Kunene NamPol Football Club remains firmly at the summit of the Kunene Second Division Football League with 42 points after edging Green Dangers FC 1-0 in Round 16 action over the weekend. The result strengthens their grip on the title race.

According to Namibia Press Agency, with six matches remaining, Okarindi Komutati sit second with 35 points, while Green Dangers and Robber Chanties share third and fourth place on 29 points each. Epupa Zebra Stars follow in fifth with 25 points. Outjo Football Academy are sixth with 22 points, while !Ugab FC and Pubs FC are locked on 21 points in seventh and eighth place respectively. Sixty Eleven sit ninth with 16 points. At the bottom of the table, Young Eagles, Aweh United and Etosha United are all tied on 10 points, occupying 10th to 12th positions as the relegation battle tightens.

Round 16 produced closely fought encounters across the region. Epupa Zebra Stars drew 1-1 with Young Eagles, while Okarindi Komutati were held to a goalless draw by !Ugab. Aweh United and Pubs FC shared the points in a 2-2 draw. Outjo Football Academy delivered a strong performance with a 3-0 win over Sixty Eleven. Robber Chanties also impressed, edging Etosha United 3-2 in a thrilling and competitive encounter.

Kunene NFA regional coordinator Bolla Nangombe said the league has grown significantly in competitiveness and visibility this season. He noted improved professionalism and tactical discipline among clubs across the region. He linked this progress to Kunene's strong national football performances, saying success in competitions like the Newspaper Cup has helped build a championship mentality in the Second Division.

Nangombe also highlighted increased fan attendance in towns such as Outjo, Opuwo and Khorixas. He said the league is now seen as a serious pathway to higher football levels in Namibia. He further acknowledged challenges such as long travel distances and facility pressure. However, he said these are being addressed through clustered fixtures, stakeholder support and improved pitch management. He praised the league's balance, stating there are no easy games this season. According to him, youth integration and improved scouting have also boosted the quality of competition.
