The 2022 Okakarara Trade Fair was officially opened by Vice President, Nangolo Mbumba at the Okakarara trade fair centre on Thursday.

Mbumba who is the patron of the fair, in his remarks, expressed satisfaction with the continuous growth of its activities at Okakarara.

“Therefore, this event would still in the future require our continuous support, as well as that of our local companies which are using it as a testing ground for their goods, services and products,” he said.

He thus urged all local companies in the country to invest enough resources to grow the industrialisation, manufacturing and value addition base of the country, so that the value chain processes of Namibia also become developed.

Mbumba again called on the citizens and investors to aggressively adopt the innovation opportunities, and the smart and appropriate technologies available in order for the country to succeed in the generation of the Fourth Industrial Revolution world.

He further thanked the 120 local and international exhibitors who are participating this year in the trade fair, saying it is good to see them again after it was for the past two years suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Otjozondjupa Governor, James Uerikua on his part praised the Okakarara Trade Fair, saying it is the best show so far in the region.

Uerikua said the fair continues to create platforms where local exhibitors, mostly livestock farmers are coming together and promoting their different livestock breeds to potential buyers.

He called on the young people in the region to also discover new business ideas that would match well with the trade fair opportunities, so that in the process they can create employment for themselves and others.

The Okakarara Trade Fair was launched in 2006 by the Okakarara Town Council, and it is this year held under the theme ‘Unlocking the business growth opportunities for Okakarara’.

The fair started on Monday and will end on Saturday.
