Otjiwarongo: A minibus and government pick-up collided on the B1 road outside Otjiwarongo in the early hours of Friday morning. The Namibian Police Force's (NamPol) head of community affairs in the Otjozondjupa Region, Senior Inspector Maureen Mbeha, reported that the accident took place at approximately 02h30, roughly 43 kilometers south of Otjiwarongo.

According to Namibia Press Agency, preliminary police investigations suggest that the Toyota minibus was travelling behind a government-owned Toyota double cab, which was heading toward Otavi, when it struck the pick-up's trailer. Both drivers lost control of their vehicles and veered to the right side of the road. Fortunately, neither vehicle overturned.

The minibus was found parked about 300 meters from the scene, while the pick-up was located approximately 40 meters from the point of collision. Senior Inspector Mbeha confirmed that the 53-year-old driver and sole occupant of the government pick-up did not suffer any injuries. The pick-up, belonging to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Land Reform, had a valid trip authority.

A 39-year-old female passenger in the minibus sustained injuries to her right arm and was admitted to the Otjiwarongo State Hospital for treatment. Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
