Windhoek: Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) Maris has signed a partnership agreement with digital payments distributor Kazang to broaden the reach of its mobile money services across Namibia, specifically targeting underserved and remote communities.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the partnership will allow MTC Maris to leverage Kazang's extensive network of over 5,500 agents, facilitating a stronger presence in urban centers, informal settlements, and rural areas. MTC Maris Executive Director Kayembe Ilunga emphasized that the collaboration aligns with the company's mission to achieve complete financial inclusion within Namibia.

Ilunga stated that the partnership will expedite efforts to ensure that all Namibians, regardless of their geographical location or economic standing, have access to essential financial services through reliable local agents. He highlighted that this collaboration would minimize travel time and expenses for customers requiring cash-in, cash-out, and wallet services, while maintaining compliance with Anti-Money Laundering regulations and Bank of Namibia standards.

Ilunga also pointed out that Maris has experienced considerable growth, boasting over 500,000 registered users since January 2026. The company plans to continue enhancing its operational systems, agent support, training, and customer service as its network expands. He envisioned a financial ecosystem where digital payments, remittances, and e-money services are accessible to all Namibian households, from urban areas like Katima Mulilo to the most remote rural communities.

The partnership is anticipated to significantly improve access to digital financial services across Namibia, fostering greater financial inclusion throughout the country.
