MTC NFA Cup Aweh semi-finals in Gobabis

Blue Waters will face Civics and Mighty Gunners will renew their rivalry with Young African in the semifnals of the MTC NFA Cup Aweh to be contested at Legare Stadium in Gobabis on 16 October 2021.

This was revealed by the draw conducted on Thursday morning at the Windhoek Palm Hotel as the flagship competition of the Namibia Football Association(NFA) heats up with the final four.

Blue Waters has come through the previous two round with victories via penalty shoot-outs and will take on Civics who defeated Khuse FC 3-0 in the quarterfinals.

Mighty Gunners lost in 2013 to African Stars and then to Young African in 2017 in the final of the same competition and are hoping to go all the way this time around when they take on African at the same venue of their 2017 battle.

The last four teams will then prepare to travel to the coast for the MTC NFA Cup Aweh Finals to be played on 23 October 2021 in Swakopmund.The losing semi-finalists will play the second match of the day , preceded by an exhibition match between the MTC Team against the Media Team, in the build up to the grand finale.

Apart from the lucrative teams prize monies, four individual awards will be handed out: The Player of the Series award; Goalkeeper of the Series; Top Goalscorer and the Referee of the Series.

So far Gunners hitman Asser Hara-Amseb leads the goalscorer chat with seven goals, four coming in the round of 32 and three in the round of 16. He’s followed by already eliminated Citizens’ Lazarus Narused on four goals.

Altogether the MTC NFA Cup Aweh has seen 99 goals scored since the round of 32.

Leading telecommunication giants MTC sponsors the NFA N$4.5 Million annually for the FA Cup for the next three years.

The winning team of the tournament will walk away with N$500 000 and runners-up

to take N$250 000 while the third and fourth place receive N$150 000 and N$100 000 respectively.
