Naypyidaw: Myanmar's Department of Small Scale Industries under the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development has announced plans to implement a micro industry project in 198 villages across the country during the 2025-26 fiscal year. The initiative, reported by the state-owned Myanmar Radio and Television, is designed to assist local residents in starting micro businesses and improving family incomes through the provision of training, materials, and equipment.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the department will allocate over 2.47 billion kyats, approximately 1.17 million U.S. dollars, to fund the project. The initiative will offer courses in various skills including soap making, sewing, consumer product production, motorcycle repair, in-home electrical wiring, home electronics repair, and diesel engine repair.
The project also includes the distribution of necessary tools and materials to support the launch of these small businesses. This effort follows the implementation of similar projects in 155 villages during the 2023-24 fiscal year and 221 villages in the 2024-25 fiscal year, as noted in the report.
