Namibia: Namibia's corporate sector joined forces to launch the country's inaugural Corporate Social Investment (CSI) Mukopano conference on Wednesday, an initiative aimed at strengthening collaboration and maximising the impact of social investment across the country.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the CSI Mukopano, scheduled to take place on 11 August 2026, is a joint initiative by MTC Namibia, the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation, FNB Namibia, and the Capricorn Foundation. MTC Chief Brand, Marketing, Communications and Sustainability Officer Tim Ekandjo stated that the platform is intended to fortify collective efforts by enabling organisations committed to social impact to share knowledge and develop lasting solutions for communities. Ekandjo expressed that the initiative is about working together, sharing knowledge, and taking action to help the country grow.
Capricorn Foundation Executive Director and Group Chief Brand and Corporate Affairs of Capricorn Group, Marlize Horn, commented that the foundation acts as a catalyst for positive change and social investment, which has greater impact when coordinated and aligned with national priorities. Horn emphasized the opportunity to shift from parallel efforts to shared purposes and from individual projects to collective impact.
The organisers highlighted that the initiative seeks to encourage organisations to collaborate instead of working in isolation, thereby reducing duplication of efforts and creating a more significant and lasting impact for communities. First Rand Bank (FNB) Namibia Sponsorship and Social Impact Manager Revonia Job stressed the importance of achieving meaningful social impact, acknowledging that no single organisation can address the nation's social and developmental challenges alone.
Project Compliance Manager at Allan Gray Orbis Foundation, Immanuel Shilongo, remarked that being part of the Mukopano is about turning good intentions into meaningful action. Shilongo noted that through partnership and collaboration, every contribution has the potential to create lasting changes in the lives of the people and communities served.
