Windhoek: Bank Windhoek has funded livestock management training for farmers across four regions as part of efforts to strengthen agricultural productivity, food security, and sustainable farming practices.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the bank stated in a media release that the training, facilitated by Agra Provision Training and Consulting Services, was conducted in Windhoek, Mariental, Otjiwarongo, and Gobabis between April and early July 2026. The sessions aimed to equip farmers with practical, business-oriented farming skills, including animal health, cattle nutrition, feed supplementation, parasite and disease management, vaccination planning, farm diversification, record keeping, and cash flow projections.
The statement highlighted that 20 farmers attended the training in Mariental, 13 in Otjiwarongo, and 23 in Gobabis, with an earlier session conducted in Windhoek in April. The initiative was designed to enhance farmers' understanding of animal health management, improve knowledge of animal nutrition, strengthen farm management and planning, and promote sustainable and efficient farming practices.
Meanwhile, Bank Windhoek's Head of Strategic Communication and Social Impact, Bronwyn Moody, emphasized the importance of agriculture in Namibia's economy, stating that providing farmers with practical knowledge is crucial for building resilient communities. "Agriculture remains one of Namibia's most important sectors, and empowering farmers with practical knowledge is essential to building stronger, more sustainable communities," Moody said.
She added that Bank Windhoek will continue to support initiatives that improve farming skills, strengthen agricultural enterprises, and contribute to Namibia's long-term economic resilience.
