Windhoek: The Namibian Society of Composers and Authors of Music (Nascam) has unveiled the outcomes of its special annual general meeting (AGM), held on 02 August 2025, where new resolutions were approved to fortify the organisation's constitutional framework.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the AGM also sanctioned the appointment of new interim board members for a 12-month term and the engagement of an external auditor to strengthen financial transparency within the organisation. Nascam Chief Executive Officer Albert Nicanor stated that the interim board's mission is to complete the preparation of constitutional amendments and present them for approval at another special AGM scheduled for 21 February 2026.
Nicanor outlined that the new resolutions are set to usher in changes that will expand the organisation's reach, improve inclusivity, and establish clear membership criteria for a broader array of creative professionals. Additionally, the resolutions will now encompass mechanical and audiovisual rights, thereby extending representation to performers, producers, and record labels alongside composers and authors.
The interim board comprises kwaito artist Morocky Mbwaluh, known as King Tee Dee, alongside Tuhafeni Ailonga, Berthold Mbinda, Shinana Nghixulifwa, Desmond Katamila, Gertrude Brandt, and Steven Naruseb.
