Otavi: The family of the late Founding President, Sam Nujoma, accompanied by the Sam Nujoma Foundation, officially handed over the Etunda Primary School and clinic to the government on Friday afternoon. Nujoma's son, Sacky Nujoma, presented the school and its architectural designs to Vice President Lucia Witbooi, who accepted the physical structures on behalf of the government.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Vice President Witbooi had the opportunity to tour and inspect the newly developed facilities, which include two classroom blocks, hostels for both girls and boys, a kitchen, a school hall, teachers' accommodation, nurses' home, clinic, and ablution facilities. The school and clinic are constructed on a 15-hectare piece of land valued at N.dollars 25 million, a donation made by Nujoma himself in 2013.

Vice President Witbooi highlighted Nujoma's commitment to his community, noting that the land was specifically donated for the construction of the Etunda school and clinic to serve children from Grades 1 to 7, primarily those of farm laborers in the surrounding area of Farm Etunda. Plans are in place for the school to accommodate 240 learners, 12 teachers, and approximately 100 boys and girls in the hostels by 2026.

Otavi Constituency Councillor, George Garab, along with the councillors of the Otjozondjupa Regional Council, contributed N.dollars 200,000 for the school's fencing. Additional support came from various stakeholders, including the Swapo Party, local businesses, the Chinese Embassy in Namibia, and the Ministry of Education, Innovation, Sports, Youth and Culture, all pledging continued support for the institution's development, emphasizing their pride in being part of Nujoma's enduring legacy.

Otjozondjupa Governor, Julius //Khamuseb, encouraged the future teachers and students to maintain the infrastructure diligently. The event saw attendance from notable figures such as Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation, Sports, Youth and Culture, Dino Ballotti; Sam Nujoma Foundation chairperson, Nahas Angula; Former President Nangolo Mbumba; and other close family members of Nujoma.

Etunda Farm is located approximately 30 kilometers south of Otavi.
