Khomas: Khomas Governor Sam Nujoma on Friday called on investors to channel more capital into underserved communities, saying the successful development of Goreangab Mall demonstrates the economic potential that exists outside traditional commercial centres.

According to Namibia Press Agency, speaking at the official inauguration of the mall in Katutura, Nujoma described the development as a vote of confidence in communities that have historically received limited investment despite growing demand for services and infrastructure. He said the project should serve as an example to investors seeking opportunities for sustainable and inclusive growth.

'We welcome Safland and Oryx Property Groups for their confidence in Katutura and their willingness to commit capital to a community that has waited long for this moment,' he said. The governor noted that the mall's popularity since opening highlighted a strong demand for quality retail and essential services closer to where people live.

Nujoma stated that the development's impact extends beyond infrastructure by improving access to shopping, banking, and employment opportunities for residents. 'What struck me most was not just the infrastructure, impressive as it is, but what it represented to our people. The convenience of having essential services within reach and the young people seeing employment created right where they live,' he said.

He said the positive public response demonstrated that investments in peripheral communities can generate both commercial returns and social benefits. Nujoma further urged businesses to view areas such as Katutura as viable investment destinations capable of supporting large-scale developments.

'The Khomas Region is open for business, and it is our peripheral communities that present the most compelling frontier for sustainable, inclusive growth,' he said. He expressed hope that Goreangab Mall would mark the beginning of a broader wave of development across the region.

'It is my sincere hope that what we are celebrating today is not an isolated event, but one of many developments and investments into communities that have long waited for their turn,' he said.
