OSHAKATI: The police in the Oshana Region on Monday arrested a 59-year-old man at Oshakati who allegedly attempted to bribe a police officer to facilitate the release of his impounded vehicle.According to Chief Inspector Thomas Aiyambo of the Namibian Police Force's Oshana Community Policing Sub-Division, the suspect reportedly arranged to meet with an unidentified police officer in the parking area of the Oshakati Game Complex, where he offered the N.dollars 2 000 bribe.Aiyambo said the vehicle was impounded by the police on suspicion of being used in the commission of a crime."The officer reported the incident to the relevant authorities, and the suspect was arrested on the spot," he said.The money was confiscated and recorded in the Pol 7 Register (Pol7 no: 325/2024).The suspect is expected to appear in the Oshakati Magistrate's Court this week.
