Putin’s Envoy Calls on Ex US Ambassador McFaul to Be ‘Peacemaker’ After Critical Remarks

Moscow: The head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund and Russian special presidential envoy for economic cooperation with foreign countries, Kirill Dmitriev, on Saturday responded to former US ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul's criticism by calling on him to "be a peacemaker."

According to Namibia Press Agency, on Friday, McFaul called on Dmitriev in an X post to stop "the hyperbolic threats about World War III," and to admit attempting to "bribe" the administration of US President Donald Trump with "great economic deals."

"Dear Mike, I believe in you. You can stop being a deep state (or 'professional state,' as you prefer) actor. Stop with the unrealistic tired mantras -start offering realistic solutions. Be a peacemaker. who knows, maybe your 'professional state' buddies will follow," Dmitriev said on X.

This past Thursday, Dmitriev told reporters that he was in Washington for two days on the instruction from Russian President Vladimir Putin to hold meetings with key officials of the Trump administration. He said they were discussing the restoration of Russia-US relations, including economic cooperation, as well as the resumption of direct air traffic between the two countries.
