Sinimbo Pledges Youth Investment at Ncamagoro Sports Facility Groundbreaking

Kavango west: Kavango West Governor, Verna Sinimbo on Wednesday led the groundbreaking for a new basic sports facility at Ncamagoro village, calling it affirmation of the region's commitment to youth development and community upliftment.According to Namibia Press Agency, the project forms part of a national programme to extend sports infrastructure to constituencies, with each project receiving N.dollars 5 million. With two facilities in the region in the pipeline, the total investment amounts to N.dollars 10 million."The project we are launching today is more than infrastructure. It is an investment in people," Sinimbo said. "When we invest in young people, we invest in the future of our nation."She added that the development aligns with government priorities to expand opportunities through education, skills, and sport, noting the role of sport in building discipline, teamwork, and leadership among the youth.The Rundu Vocational Training Centre has been contracted to carry out construction, which is expected to start within a week. Sinimbo said the approach is designed to build skills locally while delivering the facility. "While we build infrastructure, we are also building skills and opportunities," she said, adding that local contractors and SMEs will be engaged on components of the project to stimulate community-level jobs and economic activity.Initial works will include site and bush clearing, compacting and leveling, and establishing drainage, followed by construction of toilets, a football field, netball and volleyball courts, running tracks, dressing rooms, and fencing. The project is slated for completion within three to five months, subject to technical supervision by the regional Inspectorate of Works to ensure standards are met.At the same event, Kavango West Regional Council chairperson Fillipus Tenga urged strong oversight and adherence to quality. "Let us ensure that there is proper supervision and that we deliver quality products. Let us guard against substandard work. We expect a hig her standard of workmanship, timely delivery, and meaningful engagement with the community throughout the construction process," Tenga said.A borehole will be drilled to support the facility and benefit surrounding residents. Sinimbo called on the community to protect and maintain both the facility and the new water point. "Once completed, this facility will belong to the people to protect it, maintain it, and use it responsibly," she said.
