Two men aged 30 and 31 years were apprehended Sunday afternoon at Otjiwarongo after they allegedly tried to sell a fresh pangolin skin to an undercover police officer.

Namibian Police Force (NamPol) spokesperson in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha in an interview with Nampa on Monday said the suspects who are both from Otjiwarongo, were arrested at a local service station when they tried to sell the skin to a potential buyer, who turned out to be a police officer.

The skin, valued at N.dollars 50 000, was seized from them by the police.

“It is not yet known where the two found this controlled game product, as our investigations have just begun,” Mbeha noted.

The duo is expected to appear in the Otjiwarongo Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday on charges of possession of a prohibited game product.

Police investigations continue.
