Ten workers of a mini market are reported to be admitted at the Rundu State Hospital after an alleged poisoning incident on Monday.

According to Chief Inspector Raimbert Muronga of the Namibian Police, the incident happened at Mpora village at an unknown time.

Muronga said it is alleged that 10 people drank traditional Mageu brew (Sikundu) and fell sick immediately. The victims are suspected to have consumed Sikundu that was in a basket used for insecticides.

The identified victims are all workers at a mini market at Mpora and they were all transferred to Rundu State Hospital in the Kavango East Region.

‘Their conditions are reported to be stable but they are placed under medical observation,’ Muronga stated.

Investigations in the matter continue.
