Tom and Jerry, Kasu Eleven win Kasu Neefie Kandjii Cup

Tom and Jerry Football Club and Kasu Eleven netball team emerged victorious at the just concluded 11th edition of the Kasu Neefie Kandjii Cup over the weekend at the Khomasdal Sports Field in Windhoek.

The tournament kicked off last weekend and saw 10 netball and 17 football teams participating over the two weekends.

Speaking to Nampa on Monday, tournament organiser Kuveri Tjonga said this was the last tournament on the Kasu calendar for the year 2021.

En route to the final, Kasu Eleven netball team managed to defeat Ajax Mamboro by 30 points to 18 to set up a final with the Otjimati netball team who defeated Red Fire 24-15.

Kasu Eleven proved too strong for Otjimati, humbling the team from Epukiro 34-20 in the final match and walking away with N.dollars 3 000 and a trophy. Otjimati as runner-up received N.dollars 1 500, while Ajax Mamboro and Red Fire walked away with N.dollars 750 each as semi-final losers.

Tom and Jerry, which is dominated by Namibia Premier League and First Division players, once again proved its dominance in federation tournaments after retaining the trophy they won last year by beating Ajax Mamboro by a single goal margin in the semi-final, before defeating Epukiro-based outfit Red Fire, also by a single goal margin in the final game. Red Fire, en route, managed to walk past Okovimburu with five goals to four on penalties playing out to a goalless draw after regulation time.

As champions, Tom and Jerry walked away with N.dollars 7 000 and a trophy, while Red Fire as runner-up settled for N.dollars 3 000 and Okovimburu and Ajax Mamboro each walked away with N.dollars 2 000 as semi-final losers.
