Vietnam: Vietnam's North-South railway service has been disrupted as torrential rain and flooding caused by Typhoon Kalmaegi washed away sections of the track foundation in the central provinces of Dak Lak and Gia Lai, Vietnam News Agency reported Friday.
According to Namibia Press Agency, about 1,500 passengers on the affected route will be transferred by coach or offered full refunds without processing fees. The railway sector is actively working to repair the damage caused by the storm.
Typhoon Kalmaegi made landfall in central Vietnam on Thursday evening, leaving at least five people dead and seven others injured. The typhoon also caused widespread power outages and severe infrastructure damage across the affected regions.
