A 26-year-old woman died at Nakazaza village in the Kavango West Region on Saturday after she was hit by a vehicle while trying to cross the road.

According to the Namibian Police Force’s weekend crime report issued on Sunday, a 33-year-old man was driving from Mupini village to Rundu when he bumped the pedestrian who was trying to cross the road at Nakazaza village.

She died on the spot and the driver was arrested for culpable homicide on the same day.

The deceased was identified as Rauna Sihako Kamenye and her body was transported to the Rundu State Hospital mortuary.

Her next of kin have been informed of her death and police investigations into the matter continue.
