Zhejiang: East China's coastal province of Zhejiang has upgraded its emergency response level for Typhoon Co-May from IV to III at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Local authorities are taking preemptive measures to mitigate the impact of the approaching storm.
According to Namibia Press Agency, local departments across Zhejiang are implementing an early warning response mechanism, enhancing patrols and hazard inspections, and working to prevent floods and geological disasters. Residents in high-risk areas are being relocated to ensure their safety.
The center of Typhoon Co-May, the eighth typhoon of the year, was located approximately 370 kilometers southeast of Zhoushan City, Zhejiang, by noon on Tuesday. The storm is advancing northwest at a speed of 15 to 20 kilometers per hour and is intensifying. It is forecasted to make landfall between Zhejiang and neighboring Jiangsu Province on Wednesday during the daytime.
The typhoon is expected to bring heavy and torrential rains to many parts of Zhejiang from Tuesday to Wednesday. In response, the Zhejiang provincial meteorological observatory has issued an offshore alert for the typhoon.
