All Set for Katutura Expo

It’s all systems go for the popular Katutura Expo, says Katutura Central Constituency Councillor Ambrosius Kandji.

Kandji, who is also the chairman of the local organising committee for the expo, launched this year’s show with an appeal to exhibitors, farmers, sponsors and small and medium enterprises to be part of the showcase. The expo will be held from 31 July to 3 August with loads of entertainment and a diversity of merchandise on display at the Katutura Multipurpose Youth Stadium. The expo is an initiative of the Katutura Central Constituency office in consultation with the community. It first started small in August 2011, but grew into one of the busiest events on the social calendar.

Entertainment for the three-day event will take place at the nearby Independence Arena with a long list of local entertainers that will provide a first-class bash. This year’s event will include the Senior Citizens’ Festival on 31 July, followed by a beauty pageant and cycling through the streets of Katutura. The expo will be closed with a day of prayer and worship.

Kandjii yesterday called on corporate Namibia to seize the opportunity to be part of the show.

He elaborated that the event would comprise of various activities, including a trade expo of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and an agricultural show of different livestock breeds.

Other events on the cards include traditional and cultural performances by groups not limited to Katutura.

The expo will focus on formal and informal SMEs within the boundaries of Katutura and outside the Khomas Region. It will also focus on the agricultural economy with a mini-agricultural show.

Entrance fee to the expo will be N$10 for adults and N$5 for children.
