Windhoek: Minister of Industries, Mines and Energy, Modestus Amutse, will headline government participation at the Namibia International Energy Conference (NIEC) 2026, scheduled to take place in Windhoek from 14 to 16 April 2026.
According to Namibia Press Agency, a press release from NIEC stated that the minister's participation underscores government leadership in Namibia's evolving energy landscape at a pivotal stage in the sector's development. The conference, held under the theme 'The Road to First Oil and Beyond: Partnership. Investment. Growth.', aims to bring together policymakers, regulators, investors, and industry leaders to discuss developments in the country's energy sector.
Namibia has emerged as a promising hydrocarbon frontier following offshore discoveries in the Orange Basin. The country's energy strategy also includes natural gas, renewable energy, and nuclear power as part of a diversified national energy mix. 'We are honoured to welcome Honourable Minister Modestus Amutse and senior energy leadership to NIEC 2026,' said Ndapwilapo Selma Shimutwikeni, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of RichAfrica Consultancy and Convenor of NIEC. 'Their participation demonstrates coordinated government leadership and engagement with industry.'
Confirmed speakers for the event include Head of the Upstream Petroleum Unit and Special Advisor to the President, Kornelia Shilunga, Deputy Head of the Upstream Petroleum Unit and Special Advisor to the President, Carlo McLeod, and Petroleum Commissioner, Maggy Shino.
According to NIEC, discussions over the three-day event will focus on regulation, investment, infrastructure development, local content, skills development, and engagement with emerging talent through the Future Energy Leaders initiative. Now in its eighth edition, the conference was established in 2012 and has hosted 2,537 delegates, featured 410 expert speakers, and attracted participation from 1,500 companies representing 46 countries over the years. More than 1,000 delegates are expected to attend this year's conference.
The event is being held under the patronage of the Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy and is curated by RichAfrica Consultancy.
