The Roads Authority (RA) has announced the impending closure of District Road 212 (DR212 – Aussenkehr to Rosh Pinah) and Main Road 118 (MR 118 – Rosh Pinah to Oranjemund) respectively.

In a notice on Wednesday, the RA said South Africa is currently experiencing above-average rainfall, which could cause the Orange River to begin flooding once more. This would have an impact on some Namibian roads in the country’s southern region.

“All road users are urged to travel on the aforementioned roads with the utmost caution,” it stressed.

It said before making any travel plans, road users are urged to check the condition of the roads. The statement warned that the roads might close at any time due to the impending flooding.

It also stated that the RA would keep an eye on the conditions on both roads and would keep the public informed via all appropriate media channels.

Members of the public were urged to contact the RA offices if they come across any potholes or other road damage.
