Cambodia’s Construction Sector Attracts $4.93 Billion in Investments in Early 2025

Phnom penh: Cambodia's construction sector attracted a total investment of 4.93 billion U.S. dollars in the first seven months of 2025, marking a 60 percent increase compared to the same period in the previous year, an official announced on Tuesday.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Lao Tepseiha, a secretary of state at the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction, revealed that the ministry had granted licenses to 2,435 construction projects during the January to July period. This represents a 27.8 percent rise from 1,904 projects during the same timeframe last year.

Tepseiha noted that 973 construction and home design companies are currently operating in Cambodia, with 375 of these being foreign firms. These figures were shared during a speech at an annual construction and automotive expo held in Phnom Penh.

In addition to construction, Tepseiha provided updates on the automotive sector. As of September 2025, Cambodia had registered 7,187 electric vehicles, 671 three-wheeler electric vehicles, and 2,710 electric scooters. He highlighted the Cambodian government's efforts with the National Policy on EV Development for 2024-2030, which aims to encourage the adoption of 770,000 electric vehicles by 2030.
