Bangui: General elections are set to take place in the Central African Republic this December, as confirmed by a statement from the prime minister's office.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the elections were initially meant to include local voting at the end of August. However, Prime Minister Felix Moloua announced during a meeting of the strategic committee for electoral support that these local elections would now coincide with the legislative and presidential elections in December. This decision, as indicated in the statement, is intended to optimize the electoral schedule and efficiently utilize the resources designated for organizing the elections.

During the meeting held in Bangui, Moloua emphasized the strategic importance of aligning the electoral processes to ensure a more streamlined and resource-efficient execution. In related developments, the National Elections Authority reported a significant increase in voter registration numbers, surpassing 2.39 million, which is notably higher than the figures recorded before the 2020 presidential election.
