Chinchimani:Mafwe Chief Litunga George Simasiku Mamili VII has praised the government for its efforts in improving access to education and healthcare through infrastructure development in the Zambezi Region.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Mamili's remarks were conveyed during the 2026 annual Lusata Cultural Festival. He expressed gratitude for the educational infrastructure improvements at Masokotwani and Liselo combined schools, highlighting the construction of hostel facilities as a significant investment in the region's youth.

The hostel facilities are part of Chinese-funded projects that were handed over to the Namibian Government in 2024. In the healthcare sector, Mamili welcomed new health facilities at Kaenda and Linyanti, noting that they would bring essential services closer to local communities and include mortuaries to aid families in funeral arrangements.

Mamili also called on the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform to enhance sustainable farming efforts amid concerns about potential El Ni±o conditions affecting agriculture. He urged the Namibian Defence Force to continue patrols along borders with Botswana and Zambia due to worries about stock theft and cross-border crime.

Additionally, Mamili warned against divisive language and emphasized the importance of unity among communities. Minister of Urban and Rural Development James Sankwasa, representing President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, underscored the need for unity, cultural identity, and responsibility in his keynote address.
