Brasilia: Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang on Wednesday expressed China's intent to collaborate with Brazil to enhance political mutual trust and provide firm support on issues concerning their core interests. The collaboration aims to jointly oppose unilateralism, protectionism, and hegemonism.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Ding, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, conveyed these sentiments during talks with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. The discussions took place during Ding's visit to Brazil, where he relayed Chinese President Xi Jinping's greetings, highlighting the strategic guidance both nations are receiving from their leaders. This guidance has facilitated the initial steps towards building a China-Brazil community with a shared future and aligning their development strategies.
Ding emphasized that the cooperation between China and Brazil serves as a model for collaboration between major developing countries, showcasing strategic, comprehensive, and long-term significance. The recent fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee has laid out a top-level design and strategic plan for China's future, focusing on high-quality development and higher-level opening up, which Ding noted would enhance opportunities for practical cooperation with Brazil.
The Vice Premier underscored China's readiness to expand cooperation across different sectors and achieve significant outcomes. He urged both nations to collaborate in multilateral forums, advance global governance reforms, and protect the interests of developing countries. Ding also highlighted China's commitment to enhancing cooperation on poverty reduction and implementing the Global Development Initiative to benefit both nations' populations and the global community.
In addition, Ding expressed China's support for Brazil's role as a significant regional power in safeguarding peace and stability in Latin America and the Caribbean. He appreciated Brazil's efforts in hosting the Belem Climate Summit and advancing global climate governance, stating China's willingness to work with Brazil to ensure the summit's success and contribute to multilateral climate processes.
President Lula, in response, asked Ding to convey his greetings to President Xi and expressed gratitude for China's support and high-level delegation at the Belem Climate Summit. Lula lauded China's achievements in promoting a green transition, recognizing it as a global example.
Lula noted that since Brazil and China began promoting a community with a shared future for a more just and sustainable world a year ago, they have achieved significant results in strategic cooperation areas, elevating bilateral relations. He emphasized the importance of multilateralism and Brazil's readiness to maintain close communication with China to contribute positively to resolving regional disputes peacefully.
