COVID-19: Namibia records 261 new cases, nine deaths

Minister of Health and Social Services Dr Kalumbi Shangula on Monday announced that the country recorded 261 new COVID-19 cases and nine deaths, in the last 24 hours.

The new cases have a gender distribution of 151 females and 110 males between the ages of one month and 86.

Shangula in the daily update said the Hardap Region recorded the highest number of new cases at 52, Erongo 50, Oshana 43, Khomas 26, Otjozondjupa 20, ||Kharas 17, Omusati 15, Ohangwena 13, Oshikoto 10, Kunene and Kavango East with seven each and Omaheke at one case.

Among the cases recorded are 26 learners, five teachers and nine healthcare workers.

Shangula said the deaths were recorded from the Windhoek, Grootfontein, Rehoboth and Tsandi districts, bringing the total deaths to 774.

The country also recorded 147 recoveries bringing the total to 49 360.

Active cases in the country on Monday stood at 3 062, with 243 hospitalised of which 60 are in intensive care.

Cumulative confirmed cases stood at 53 207.
