The 34-year-old accused in a hit-and-run accident that caused the death of a man last week, has been granted bail in the Walvis Bay Magistrate’s Court.

Charlet De Bruyn was granted bail of N.dollars 10 000 on condition that she surrenders her passport to investigating officers and reports to the Yianni Savva Police Station every Friday until her next court appearance on 25 March 2021.

De Bruyn is accused of running over and killing the 30-year-old Willdrew Visagie, who was crossing the road at the entrance to Walvis Bay, last week.

It is alleged that the accused, who was driving a white pick-up, was driving from Walvis Bay towards Long Beach around 20h50 when she hit Visagie, who died on the spot.

She fled the scene and was later arrested at her residence on Long Beach.

The accused was represented by legal representative Ray Rukoro.

She appeared before Magistrate Vicky Nicolaidis. Prosecutor Tuihaleni Hulikuete represented the State.
