Namibia’s two boxers Julius Indongo and Nathaniel Kakololo lost their respective international fights in Europe on Saturday evening.

Kakololo had challenged British boxer Nick Ball for his World Boxing Council Silver Feather Title in the Copper Box Arena, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London, England and lost via a 12th-round technical knockout.

The Namibian boxer who had fought a good battle seemed to be out of sorts in the 12th round as he turned his back to his opponent, forcing the referee to stop the fight in the 12 round.

The Namibian boxer had a reach advantage over Ball, but the stocky British fighter used his skill and treachery to tire down Kakololo who seemed too tired as the fight went on.

The former African Boxing Union champion Kakololo had scored some beautiful shots in the mid rounds, using his jab effectively, but seemed to run out of steam in the championship rounds leading to his defeat in the 12th round.

Efforts to get comments from Kakololol’s camp in Britain proved fruitless at the time of going to press.

Meanwhile, Indongo lost to Mirzakamol Nematov at Hotel Renaissance, Tashkent in Uzbekistan via an eight-round

In a fight monitored online by Nampa Nematov scored an impressive victory over Indongo in the welterweight division.

The Namibian tried to use his slick movement to outfox his opponent but found the going tough in an eight-rounder as the judges declared Nematov the winner after eight intensive rounds of fighting.

Indongo was rocked in the third and fourth round by Nematov who failed to finish the out-of-sorts Namibian.

The 39-year-old Namibian former world champion came back in the fifth and sixth rounds and showed his class but could not find the magic punch that capitulated him into world stardom six years ago.

In the seventh and eighth rounds, the two boxers displayed great boxing skills but the judges decided it was the hometown hero who had landed more telling punches and deserved the victory.

Speaking Nampa from Uzbekistan, Imms Moses was critical of the judge’s decision saying his boxer had been robbed.

“We had a good plan and it worked. However, the judges saw the fight differently. Julius (Indongo) fought well. He outboxed him (Nematov). He clearly won the fight,” Moses said.
