Namibian featherweight boxer, Nathanael ‘Natty’ Kakololo, has promised fireworks when he meets Tanzanian Kasimu Hamad Hai for the vacant World Boxing Association (WBA) Pan-African belt on Saturday.

Speaking during a press conference where the two boxers met for the first time before the clash on Thursday, Kakololo said that come Saturday night in Otjiwarongo, he will be crowned as the African featherweight champion.

“I am ready for the fight. It does not matter how he trained, even if he went to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro, I am 100 per cent fit and ready for this fight. Make no mistake because that title will be mine,” he said.

His opponent, who was speaking through a translator, seemed to have a few words for his opponent, only saying he came from Tanzania to come and collect the belt.

MTC Manager of Corporate Affairs, John Ekongo, said the boxing event is what they are looking at as sponsors because it offers an opportunity to sporting fans outside Windhoek to witness top class sporting events.

“Economic activities over the weekend will be spread in the various industries, considering that we just came out of a very bad period of COVID-19. We, therefore, encourage boxing fans to come and be part of the post-COVID-19 recovery program,” he said.

Kakololo will be fighting under the MTC Salute Boxing Academy, which will host its Unomasa Champions Collide Boxing Bonanza in Otjiwarongo on Saturday.

Kakololo has a record of 17 fights; 13 wins, three losses and one draw (17-13-3-1), while Haji has a track record of 18 fights, 11 wins, five losses and two draws.

The other fights that will take place on the night include;

Abed Shikongo v Johannes Hangomo (Flyweight)

Johannes Erastus v Luben Kandimba

Harry Simon Junior vs Simeon Ndayambekwa Varde (Middleweight)
