Kavango west: The Kavango West Regional Council's (KWRC) office park has reached 99 per cent completion, with commissioning pending amid funding delays.According to Namibia Press Agency, KWRC Chief Development Planner Petrus Hamutenya in an interview with Nampa on Wednesday, N$181,065,050.47 of the N$190,215,587.90 contract has been spent since the commencement of the project on 23 August 2021. Its completion date was extended from 30 October 2025 to 30 June 2026 due to slow transfers of funds by the Ministry of Urban and Rural Development (MURD), delayed delivery of two elevators, and additional scope to the council chamber.'We are in the final stretch of the office park, but cashflow delays and late elevator deliveries affected the schedule,' Hamutenya said. The project, with an additional allocation of N$20.8 million, forms part of four capital projects aligned to the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) for the 2026/27-2028/29 financial year plan. Other projects include a Rural Development Centre at N$5 million, services infrastructure in Katwitwi of N$500,000, and basic sanitation costing N$2.8 million, totalling N$29.1 million.'We call for political support to lobby for additional funds and to strengthen project monitoring and evaluation,' Hamutenya said. Meanwhile, the chief development planner reported 100% completion of the Rupara Centre hostel accommodation facility in the Musese Constituency, amounting to N$16.4 million, with only N$9.8 million spent, with commissioning pending. He said only N$1 million of the N$1.5 million allocated for the Katwitwi pump house renovation project had been used, adding that testing of the sewer pump and commissioning are still pending. The Katwitwi electrical reticulation project reached 100%, with testing and commissioning conducted on 09 June 2026 after N$2.1 million of N$2.3 million was spent. At Katwitwi, Build Together houses include one contract completed and two progressing at 60% and 70%, with extensions in process for the remaining work. The gravel r oad at Katwitwi Extension 1 was also fully completed on 02 June 2026.'We remain focused on completing the office park and delivering essential services infrastructure for communities,' Hamutenya said.
