Windhoek: Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) Maris is the title sponsor of this year's 09 Music Festival after entering into a N$500,000 partnership with Stratosphere Investment. The event is slated for 02 and 03 October at the University of Namibia (UNAM) Stadium in Windhoek.
According to Namibia Press Agency, MTC Maris announced in a media statement on Thursday that the sponsorship is part of its efforts to support local initiatives promoting Namibian music, youth culture, entrepreneurship, sport, and digital payment innovation. Through the sponsorship, MTC Maris will serve as the festival's exclusive official payment partner, enabling cashless trading across ticketing, food and beverage stalls, merchandise, and vendor points.
MTC Maris Executive Director, Kayembe Ilunga, stated that the partnership aligns with the company's commitment to supporting platforms where culture, innovation, and entrepreneurship intersect. 'The festival creates opportunities for artists, traders, and communities while encouraging participation in the growing digital economy,' Ilunga said.
Stratosphere Investment Chief Executive Officer, Morocky Mbwaluh, mentioned that the sponsorship would enhance the overall festival experience by improving convenience for festivalgoers and vendors. The 2026 festival programme will feature live music performances, a seven-a-side football tournament, and activities aimed at promoting business, lifestyle, and community engagement.
