Khorixas council relocates over 100 informal settlement residents

The Khorixas Town Council planning division has relocated 120 residents to a new formalised informal settlement area at the town.

Many residents have welcomed the process that started in August, as the new informal settlement has been demarcated in an orderly manner, Planning Officer at the council, Sieglinde Wetha told Nampa here yesterday.

She said residents built houses in a disorderly manner prompting the council to relocate them.

Every resident that has been relocated is very happy because they were eager to be moved to the new area. The area has a proper road network, and potable water will also be available before the end of December this year, she said.

Wetha added that the processes are lengthy and residents must be patient, as all that have applied will be given plots and those that are in the boundaries of the relocation zone will be relocated during the course of the year.
