Shenzhen: Laos' Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry will collaborate with its partners to improve Lao cattle breeds, focusing on enhancing growth and quality to meet market demand and increase exports.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the initiative will employ artificial insemination techniques to improve cattle growth, weight, meat quality, and market appeal. The program ensures that the cattle can adapt to Laos' environment and provide good economic returns. The project will promote both family and commercial cattle farming, including raising mother cows to produce offspring and breeding young cows for future generations.
Additionally, the initiative aims to boost cattle exports and contribute to the growth of Laos' livestock sector. The Lao government is targeting a 4.3 percent growth in agriculture for 2025, aiming to increase the sector's contribution to 22.4 percent of the country's gross domestic product (GDP).
