Mexico City:Music and the glow of a full moon brought China's Mid-Autumn Festival to life, offering local audiences a taste of one of China's cherished traditional celebrations.

According to Namibia Press Agency , the event was held at Mexico City's Palace of Fine Arts and was titled "Under the Same Moon." It featured a collaboration between Chinese and Mexican musicians, highlighting a cultural exchange through music.

Renowned Chinese erhu player Li Cangxiao performed alongside young Chinese pianist Luan Jingxu. They were joined by Mexico's Humboldt Quartet and percussionist Javier Perez. The program included a mix of Chinese and Mexican works, such as Li's "Kangding Capriccio," Mexican composer Jose Pablo Moncayo's "Huapango," and the Chinese classic "The Butterfly Lovers" by He Zhanhao.

Rogelio Rivero Chong, director of the Teotihuacan Archaeological Zone, emphasized the importance of such events for fostering cultural understanding. He noted that the festival's focus on family reunion resonates with Mexican society, where family holds significant importance.

Rivero Chong was particularly impressed by the erhu's performance in "Huapango," remarking on the unexpected harmony between the Chinese instrument and the Mexican composition. He praised both the erhu and the pianist's performance for their impressive quality.

The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of China's major traditional holidays and is associated with family reunions, the full moon, and the sharing of mooncakes. The event in Mexico was organized by Mexico's Culture Ministry and the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature, in collaboration with the Chinese Embassy in Mexico and the China Cultural Center in Mexico.
