Namibia: Pan-African film and television training institution, MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF), has opened applications for its 2026 intake, offering fully funded training opportunities to aspiring filmmakers across the continent. MultiChoice made the announcement in a media statement availed to Nampa on Thursday. Following MultiChoice's recent integration into the CANAL+ Group, the company has renewed its commitment to producing compelling African content by investing in young talent with filmmaking, production and storytelling skills.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the 2026 intake introduces a comprehensive curriculum designed to balance theoretical knowledge with practical immersion. Any young Africans who dream of telling Africa's stories can apply to join the MultiChoice journey to give Africa a stronger voice on the world stage. The programme is open to African graduates seeking careers as directors, producers, scriptwriters, filmmakers and storytellers.
The fully accredited nine-month programme is delivered through a hybrid model that combines interactive online learning with intensive in-person training. The academies are based in Kenya, Nigeria and Zambia, serving candidates from 14 African countries. Since its launch in 2018, MTF has trained 296 filmmakers and produced more than 42 films.
During the programme, students gain insights into the business of filmmaking while learning their craft from the industry's best minds. Participants are required to produce their own movie projects, which are subsequently aired on DStv and GOtv channels, including Maisha Magic, Zambezi Magic and Africa Magic, as well as on the streaming platform Showmax.
MultiChoice noted that MTF graduates have achieved significant industry recognition, with several winning and receiving nominations for awards at platforms such as the Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards, Kalasha Awards, Uganda Film Festival and the Women in Film Awards. Alumni also regularly participate in international industry platforms, including the European Film Market and the Durban FilmMart.
The company emphasised that the programme's hyperlocal content focus continues to yield international success by enabling Africans to tell authentic stories, while contributing to economic growth and cultural development across the continent.
